  1. David Ling asks 4 Nov 2023

I am looking for suitable replacement LED downlights for some failed JCC FGLED6 Tilt JC94482 Brushed Nickel cool white 4000K 500 lumens downlighters which I installed in my kitchen.

The tilt function is not vital [although useful], but I do want to minimise the potential issue of having a different cut-out size from the current 85mm diameter holes.

I also wish, if possible, that the replacement lights to have a similar external appearance to the existing ones, as I would prefer not to have to replace all eight of them.

Your advice on suitable replacement downlights would be most appreciated.

Hi, thank you for reaching out to us via the website. We will be able to get you a replacement downlight of your preference. JCC has now discontinued the one you mentioned but they have a newer version of the one you have, I will email you a data sheet of the newer model to see if that's something you'd consider.

LED Downlights are a versatile lighting solution for both domestic and commercial use. They use less energy when compared to conventional lighting, such as halogen or incandescent light bulbs. They are more durable and are much longer lasting making them a more sustainable lighting solution for homes and businesses.

In the home LED downlights can be used in most rooms including the kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom. We can supply the downlight fitting on its own and attach an LED spotlight bulb like an LED GU10 or an LED MR16. We also have Smart LED Downlights which can be wirelessly controlled using an app or by voice using Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple HomeKit.

Commercially LED Downlights are especially popular in retail as they can be recessed into the ceiling and not affect the store’s displays and provided you are using a product with a high colour rendering actually enhance the displays. They are also frequently used in many business premises as they comply with fire rating regulations and come as IP65 rated in industries affected by condensation.

What are the benefits of LED Downlights?

  • LED Downlights use up to 90% less energy when compared to Halogen or Incandescent lighting, so will significantly reduce lighting costs. For example, a 7-watt LED Downlight will replace a 50-watt halogen equivalent and provide a better light output for a fraction of the energy consumption.
  • LED Downlights last up to 25 times longer than conventional lighting which can help in reducing maintenance costs as they require less frequent replacement due to failure.
  • LED light bulbs provide instant light with no warm-up time, unlike fluorescent lighting which can take up to a minute to get to full brightness.
  • LEDs contain no harmful gases unlike their halogen or fluorescent counterparts, so are more environmentally friendly.
  • LED light bulbs do not emit heat so are ideal for use in food displays or in areas with colour sensitivity such as art displays or exhibitions.

What are the best LED Downlights?

  • The most popular downlight fitting we supply is theIntegral Evofire range as this can be fitted with either a GU10 or MR16 spotlight bulb. It comes with 70-100mm cut-out in a variety of finishes to suit any décor.
  • For the ultimate all-in-one ceiling lighting solution, Integrated LED Downlights are easy to install and can be used all throughout the home. The Collingwood H2/H4 range is mains voltage so would require little to no extra wiring when replacing traditional downlights
  • Fire-rated Downlights are important in rooms like kitchens or other high-temperature industries as they comply with safety regulations by delaying the spread of a fire from floor to floor.
  • IP65-rated downlights are essential in places that can get heavy condensation such as bathrooms and steam rooms as they are waterproof. These are suitable for bathroom zones 1 & 2 as they are protected against water jets or vapour.
