Philips LED Energy Efficient Lightbulbs with Excellent Colour Rendering Index 

The Philips LED lightbulbs in this range all have a Colour Rendering Index (CRI) of over 90. This is considered as ‘excellent’ colour rendering and means that the light source reproduces colours exceptionally when compared to natural light. These products also provide excellent quality light and can be used to create whatever atmosphere you require in your setting. Their low wattages (compared to halogen or incandescent equivalents) and long lifetimes mean they can save you money on your energy bills and help to make your home more sustainable.  

This range of Philips LED bulbs are available in a range of shapes; GU10, GLS/ A60, MR16, AR111,Golf Ball and Candles and in a range of colour temperatures from warm white to cool white. What are the different lightbulbs available in this range? 

GU10s – These lightbulbs are generally used as spotlights and are commonly installed in ceiling fixtures, track lighting. These lights are excellent for directional lighting, accent lighting or general lighting, like the Philips Master GU10 5.5W Expert Colour GU10 2700K, 36 degree. The GU10s in the high CRI range come in various wattages, colour temperatures and beam degrees so that you can choose the perfect bulb for your needs.  

AR111s – These low voltage lightbulbs are larger than standard bulbs and have a distinctive reflector which means that their light output and beam focus is enhanced. AR111 bulbs like the Philips 10.8W AR111 930 40D  are excellent at highlighting specific features and are available in a range of colour temperatures, wattages and beam degree.  

MR16s – These bulbs are excellent as spotlights or downlights. They are low voltage reflectors, MR16 lamps like this Philips 7.5W Expert Colour MR16 3000K 36 degree are great for accent, task or general lighting. Due to their low voltage, they require a transformer to be used.  

Candles – Bulbs in the candle shape are excellent for providing decorative lighting in your home. They are commonly used in chandeliers, wall lights, table and floor lamps and are great at creating the desired ambience in your home. High CRI of up to 97 – With a High CRI, Colour Rendering Index, colours appear true to life compared to natural daylight and vibrant. The lightbulbs in this range all have a CRI of over 90 which is considered as ‘excellent’ with many in the range having a CRI rating of 97. High CRI lightbulbs are perfect for use in the home, galleries and for use with art installations, retail, beauty service settings and food establishments and restaurants, where it is important that colours are made appealing and true to life.  

Dimmable – All the lightbulbs in this range are dimmable which means that their light levels can be dimmed to the appropriate level. Many in this range are the specialist Philips bulbs with Dimtone/ Warm Glow like this Philips Master 3.4W SES Candle Bulb in Warm Glow which means that when the bulbs are dimmed, they also shift in their warmness / colour temperature. As they are dimmed more, they become warmer which means that they mimic traditional halogen / incandescent lamps. This means when dimming the bulbs, you can create cosier ambiences in your settings.  

Range of Colour Temperatures – The bulbs in the Philips High CRI range are available in warm white (2700K), white (3000K) and cool white (4000K). This means that you can select the right bulb for the correct ambience in your lighting areas. Generally, the warmer the light the more ambient the setting. Warmer colour temperatures are used in living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms and cooler colour temperatures are used in bathrooms, kitchens and offices. Selecting the right colour temperature is an important aspect of lighting.
